About My Work
My work interweaves the histories of imperial migrations and urban crisis in the United States in the late 20th century. My first book, Latino City: Immigration and Urban Crisis in Lawrence, Massachusetts, 1945-2000 (UNC Press, 2017), explored Lawrence's transformation to the first Latino-majority city in New England. My next project will explore the criminalization of immigrants in the 1980s and 1990s United States, particularly as this criminalization related to perceptions of purportedly "urban" dangers of drugs and gangs.
